I got dinged $7.89 for fuel fee in returning a car at ABQ earlier this week. I filled up at ALON stations less than 2 miles from the airport. Being aware of this scam earlier I kept pushing the gas in till it wouldn't go. When I dropped off the car the lady said yes it is full.

Of course the detailed receipt does not print out unless you go the counter and also it electronically shows up later by the time you/I am in the terminal past TSA check point in the terminal. Yes, i agree it is less than $8 but the principal really drives me crazy. The other part that drives me crazy in this situation is I had 2 hours to kill before the flight and had the time to go to the counter but looked at the total and said looks about right. Again, w/o giving us the detail breakdown electronically or in print when we return the car it feels slimy. Any lawyers in the house there on their opinions: seems like they are doing this in bad faith and really going out of their way to gouge folks.
