Finding a new doctor shouldn’t change a thing.

There are lists of infections and infectious disease-related conditions for which doctors in a jurisdiction are mandatory reporters, required to report if coming across a case for certain infectious diseases and/or related conditions. That reporting duty is independent of the patient’s background.

Even if knowing a patient and knowing the patient is local, the physician’s duty to report remains for the listed diseases/disease conditions. What is done by the authorities after the clinician’s report is more typically not in the hands of that doctor unless there is a misdiagnosis or other mistake.
