we have tons of checked bags (5-6) because dropping off kid at school. I’m not sure what my allowance is as AA PP (LAX-ORD IN Y and ORD-LHR in J) I was gonna put all bags on my ticket and pay extra so we can check bags all the way through to LHR - does this sound like a good plan to make this connection? Looks like AA#2187 sits at LAX overnight so not to worried about that first leg getting delayed.

thanks!
As a PLT Pro you get 3 complimentary bags, but AA charges $200/bag starting with bag #4. So you're looking at $600 to check all 6 bags through in your name.

If you check 3 through in your name, then check 4-6 in wife/kid's name only to ORD, that should only be $100. Claim them at ORD then re-check with BA where they will be complimentary to LHR since you're in J.

So essentially you'd be spending $500 extra for the convenience of not having to claim 3 bags at ORD and take them to T5 and check-in again.

With 3 hours you have plenty of time at ORD to grab any bags and head over to T5.
