Just wrapping up a four night stay here; my family visited last summer for three nights and we were excited to return this summer. We loved our stay and look forward to returning next year.
  • Check-in: we were upgraded to a valley view fireplace suite. The room was virtually exactly the same as last year so I won’t re-review it. We once again received a bottle of red wine as a welcome amenity.
  • Breakfast: we were told we could have breakfast either at the deli, or the buffet in the restaurant. We did the buffet each day and enjoyed it; last year things seemed somewhat frantic but they seem staffed up this year. All of the typical buffet items plus some dim sum dumplings, eggs cooked to order, meat/cheese plate, etc. Additionally, free coffee is available in the lobby before 7 which I appreciated.
  • Hiking: today I hiked around 2 miles to the top of the “Resort Chair” lift which afforded a view of Lake Tahoe - just follow the service road up from the base of the lift. The last half mile is pretty steep with a lot of loose rock so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re worried about slipping.
  • Transportation: my wife and son got the idea that they wanted to take Amtrak here from our stay at the HR San Francisco. The ride was really pretty, but slow, and it can be hard to get an Uber/Lyft to get around. We used the TART bus system which worked fine, but in general you’d want a car to stay here.
  • Meals: we didn’t eat any meals on property aside from breakfast; we had two dinners at the village that’s in walking distance, pizza both times which was pretty good. Our other two dinners were in Tahoe City - nothing special.

overall the resort felt much more back to normal than last summer and we look forward to returning next summer.
