I also have had trouble using the Marriott gift card. Specifically we stayed at the Sheraton Alexandria. Although they are a participating property they said they couldn't redeem the card because "Marriott's system was down and were unaware as to when it would be back up". Of course this was disingenuous as the system was not down and I've since learned that the challenges of walking through the redemption steps are complicated and hotel staff flat out don't wish to bother with it.
I know folks have given up and washed their hands of the gift card and I can't blame them. I however am willing to take my complaint to a higher level. Having said that any suggestions as where to begin?
