In part I also blame the parents. They should have been at the gate and if they saw little Johnny get off the plane unaccompanied at least little Johnny wouldn't be wandering around the airport or somewhere outside of the airport. And some of the areas East and North of MIA airport aren't a place that you'd want a 12 year old child lost. But it's this mentality that my child should be your problem. If AA was smart they'd not take any UM under the age of 15.
Agree to this! My step kids had to fly unaccompanied minor many times. We always got to the airport early and got a gate pass so that we could meet them at the end of the jet bridge. It was easy and just required arriving far enough in advance to go to the desk and obtain the pass.
If this happened, the mom didn’t get what she paid for and should get her fee refunded, but a 12 year old is not a baby- give me a break.
