How to track current location/status of upcoming flight's aircraft?

Traveled from YVR to LAX today. Used FlightAware to monitor “Where is my Plane”. Our flight 1719 goes back and forth between YVR and LAX. It’s an A319. Last night the plane got into LAX at 8 pm. One would rationalize that there is a better than average chance it should leave on time. Especially when so many flight are coming from somewhere the day of travel. Of course the delay bug hit. We finally got airborne at 4:05 pm. Once on board I asked the FA and she said that there wasn’t any ground staff to bring the plane to the gate from the hangar. It finally left two plus hours late. I wonder if there’s a way I can see accurate plane/flight status. I also use Flighty. Had I known earlier, we would of hung out in Whistler much longer. Delays happen and I get it. Trying times in the industry for sure. It sux when you are on holiday and I could of spent another few hours up in the mountains. Does anyone on the forum know a better way to find out??? Thank you
