Yeah, I recall it working seamlessly like that in the past, but this time something failed. It's my wife's phone and Facebook account, and she could log in as usual on the new phone, but the old content wasn't there. She has resigned herself to it, saying there was too much old stuff there anyway.
Sounds to me like she may have inadvertently created a new FB account instead of logging into her existing one. I have had several friends do that and end up with duplicate accounts.
