From "Great Loop" web sites (I was partial to Captain John's), I got the impression that the scenery is markedly inferior south of Cairo compared to the upper river. To some extent, that could be because it's farther away (because the river is wider) and also because of levees lining the river. I do wonder why more lines don't use the Tenn-Tom, which sounds much more interesting.
