The weird thing on the Eco Sport is that the hinge is on the driver's side, not the top of the tailgate. For shorter people, it makes opening/closing the tailgate much easier. However, if you parallel park often (or just in front of other vehicles) it makes swinging the tailgate open very difficult/impossible.
