Coleslaw, thanks for the timely reminder. This has just now been resolved.
- An initial phone call to AA suggested that it would be easy with the operator telling me they would cancel the miles out of AA and send an internal note to QF to credit them.
- 4 weeks on, and they were still in my AA account so I called again. Different agent also indicated that this was easy and that he could initiate the process but that I'd likely have to follow up with QF after I saw them leave the AA account.
- Sure enough, they left my AA account while we were together on the phone.
- A few weeks later I received a really nice email from AA saying that their attempts to get them shifted to QF led to a request from QF for the original boarding passes.
- I scanned these and sent them by email to QF and - abra cadabra! - 3 days later the points are in y QF account, no further questions asked
So, a number of steps and quite some persistence, but a complex situation solved to the the customer's satisfaction.
Hope this is of some use to others.
(And another reason that I insist on (and keep till credited) PAPER boarding passes!
