My online account shows an entry labeled as "Removal of Credit Balance" with a charge that is equal to a credit balance that I had been carrying due to refunding a Fine Hotels reservation.

What does "Removal of Credit Balance" mean? Is Amex mailing me a check for that amount? Or have they confiscated my funds? The entry is disconcerting... Amex usually communicates what they are doing. I'm confused and concerned.
