My in-laws love river cruises and did end up on one of the Mississippi cruises a few years back. They did enjoy (can't remember what they sailed though) and booked another onboard but ended up cancelling (they do that all the time). I think they're overpriced by quite a bit. All of the American cruise lines have been (river, Great Lakes, coastal).
