I don’t think you’ll make it. Immigration can easily take an hour, and that leaves you no time to pick up your bag, make it through customs, and over the the LP check in desks.
Wrong. If it’s one ticket LUfthansa will through check bags.

In most cases bags can be tagged ITi (International to International ) that go through MIA so you just need to land, go through US Immigration you will walk through the customs hall not reclaiming your baggage and go to transfer security.

worst case scenario will be if Lufthansa don’t do ITI and I can’t think as to why they wouldn’t is you will go through US immigration, reclaim your bags, walk through customs and in the transfer area just before security there is a bag drop where you just put your already tagged bags on a belt. There are usually staff to assist with rebooking etc if missed connections.

MIA is set up especially for ITI and I’ve done it many times travelling LHR-MIA-CUN and vv with BA and American. Checked my bags at London or Cancun tagged for the destination and not had to reclaim them most it’s taken me is. 45 mins to get to the lounge this way.
