At the moment I'm a DL PM, but will hit DM later this fall. Looking at the UA status match page it looks like they don't match anything above PM, so should I just go ahead and do that now?

When I ask "does it even matter", it's because I only do 1-3 domestic RTs per year, but do 7-10 international paid business class trips, so upgrades aren't really a concern.† But then what - if any - perks would there be to status match versus just earning it by flying?

(† which... am I reading this right? I technically only need to spend $15k to hit 1k?)
