US Air allows you to check-in for transborder flights on their web site. You can do it the night before and even pick a better seat. Their system asks for passpot number, birthdate, etc, and even does the security questions. This should save a few valuable minutes and get you in the INS line earlier. Be ther at 5:00 AM and no should have no problem.
