I don't think this is correct. Two agents (one inexperienced and the other one very professional) have told me that as soon as you activate the 747 designed card, the old card (same number but old expiration date and old four digit security code) is rendered invalid. OTOH, if you don't activate the new card in 60 days, both cards will become invalid because it's apparently assumed that the new card was lost in the mail.
