"Not very generous" depends on what routes you travel. NWI-AMS was worth 700 points under the old system, it's now worth 500 miles. Short-haul travellers did quite well out of the conversion, but are now having to live with something that is far less advantageous than the previous system.
Plus: For KLC/UK flights you always got business class points. That really added up quickly
