I have a flight booked for tomorrow on Spirit that will open up for check-in later today. Up until today, the flight was looking very empty, with many full rows available, so we decided not to pay for seats and wait to see what we get for free at check-in. However, between yesterday and today, virtually every middle seat on the plane that was previously available is now showing as unavailable, leaving the seat map looking like a plane full of open aisle and window seats only. It's pretty clear to me that these seats were not actually booked, and I can't tell if it's actually Spirit being helpful, just blocking off middle seats if the flight isn't full and they won't be used. However, we're traveling with a group of 3, so we're just confused on what to expect. We were hoping to get assigned a full row of 3 seats together, but it now looks like that won't happen.
