It is a matter of respectr towards the chef, the staff and the other guests to wear appropriate attire. In the case of a T shirt a jacket over it would be fine. Nobody asks for a tuxedo

Itīs a general new standard. Someone can like it ot not, we have to accept. In my job 10 years ago you were mentioned if you didnīt wear a tie at the office. Nowadays itīs nearly the opposite.
