I'd agree with the advice in #19 above. The only thing that's changed in the past 2 years is that The Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa underwent renovations and is now the VEA. I'd check to make sure they're done with the construction work there. I'd also suggest looking at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum, which is nicer and newer (updated rooms, much nicer pool/fitness area) than the Marriott Irvine.
