30 June - 3 July Strike at CDG: EC261 Eligible?
I am currently sitting in the Air France lounge in CDG Terminal 2F awaiting a delayed flight to Berlin. I flew in last night from IAD, and my connection was scheduled for 9:35 this morning. Yesterday, I received notice that my connection was canceled and I had been rebooked to a 13:00 CDG-BER departure.
After walking to the listed departure gate (F23), discovering the gate had (just) changed to F49, and then scrambling to that gate, I heard the the gate agent announce that the flight was now delayed an hour to 14:00.
So, I'm looking at a 4-hour-plus delay to BER. I intend to claim EC261 compensation. At the lounge, an agent informed me that the cause of the delay was a "big strike" this morning at CDG. A web article indicates there's a strike at CDG running today through, potentially, 3 July. As an American, I admit this was not one of the risks I had in mind.
In any event, would such a strike negate Air France's obligation to compensate me? As I understand it, the strike is not among Air France staff, but I don't really know.
