Hi -- trying to figure out how to book two tickets on the same reservation, but one using points, the other purchasing outright. Doesn't appear to be possible on the Air Canada website, and when I call air canada / aeroplan, they want to charge me $30 for this. Seems like a not so unusual scenario, and if the website doesn't support it, then why should I be charged $30?

Anyway, do I just book them individually on the website, and then call in to AC to have the two separate reservations linked? The goal here is I want my travel companion to inherit my SE privileges, no different than if I had booked both tickets at the same time on a single reservation (no seat selection fee, free baggage, lounge access, etc).
