Or the more gullible finance manager(s).

Skytrax is a privately owned company based in the West Country, which as far as I can tell is essentially an extended family and a few contracted employees, who go to some lengths to keep their operations under wraps. The organisation's founder has a background in aviation but the whole enterprise - and I use the term lightly - is unaccountable and lacks transparency. That includes the fees they require for consultancy of airlines and the linkage - if any - to the published rankings. Now it doesn't have to be that way, the Michelin restaurant ratings are also shrouded in some mystery, but they put enough out in the public domain to have some confidence in the process even though many aspects of a restaurant experience are even more subjective than the airline experience.

The upshot of the previous paragraph is that if I were to put out a ranked list of airlines it should be considered more authorative than Skytrax since it could be challenged, you could discuss it with the author, you could ask the underlying basis, you would know no money was involved, and you can chat to me in CCR. Ditto HIDDY, though not usually the last dimension.
