Popped into Tesco tonight, to find they are also offering 1000 Clubcard points if you open a bank account between now and the 13th of June, **** provided **** that the account has a balance of GBP1,500 on the 13th of June.

Seems like a fair deal - open it with minimum balance of £1, and arrange for £1,500 to move from your existing account to hit your Tesco account by 11th June (to be safe!), and then move it back on, say the 20th.

The account is actually provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland, so at least your money is safe!
