Does anyone know why when the 77M's were upgraded to Club suites the First cabins remained the older type? I think this just leaves the 77M and the A380's with the original First seats? - I know the 787-9's have a slightly refreshed seat without a door?
I would guess cost is the main reason. The B77M's are between 22 and 25yrs old and BA plan to use them until they are about 30yrs old so while the Club Suite upgrade was necessary (BA knew they were falling massively behind with the Club World offering), the First seat is perfectly adequate for 5 more yrs before the plane is retired. The B787-9's will get a refresh of First when they go in for the CS upgrade next year to fix the wear and tear which has had a significant impact on the First seats, but I'm not sure if they will get the door upgrade or not.
