It's starting to be quite a stack, AKA real money, so after MSing during a recent trip to WM, I picked up some groceries and swiped the GC at an SCO thinking it would auto-drain the $2 and I'd put the rest on another card, but I could see in the little window it was attempting to take the entire amount from the card, and of course it was declined.
Why didn't this work?
Because it doesn't autodrain at WM.
Stores where I've successfully autodrained are Safeway, CVS, Target, Costco and Whole Foods. There are no doubt more but WM is not one of them.
