I’m betting the employee was new, but we had a back and forth until he was able to get a manager to confirm what I was saying was true.
I think I was also surprised by the stay because I had heard such great things, especially on this thread.
The experience as a whole just seemed off, except for breakfast. Breakfast was outstanding. I left my initial review prior to heading down there. I just had stats at HR Lexington, which doesn’t even have a club, and they were awesome. They basically sent stuff up to your room and let you have access to snacks and water by the front desk as if it were a club. That’s really helpful when you travel with kids, like I do most of the time. We stayed at HR Maui last April and they were unrivaled on that front in my experience. Perhaps that’s what shifted my standards.
I think the real nail in the coffin for me was when that Onyx employee said the club was shifted from members to Delta employees. I also remember at check-in I asked about any potential upgrades and he mentioned he could upgrade me to a club room. Just seems odd to get “upgraded” to a room on the club floor where you can’t use a club.
