Unless one decides to use NFP for manufactured spending and finds a way to do, I personally would not bother if it is just for bus/mrt.

P.S. Side note - for Chase cards you can lower cash advance limit to $100. Send them a message via portal and they will do it.
A bit of a delayed update. Chase card wasn't accepted for topping up NFP using the NETS app on the iPhone. Seems like only local cards are accepted.

I was able to add the card to Grab but wasn't able to top up the wallet initially. After paying for a ride using the Chase card, I was able to top up the wallet. Grab rides get tagged as travel, GrabFood gets tagged as dining, Grab top-ups are just general spend.

Lazada/RedMart didn't work initially due to Verified by Visa but it cleared up automatically about 12 hours later and I was able to make purchases from that point on.

No issues whatsoever at any retail locations.
