My name has had an apostrophe and a hyphen in it for over twenty years- (O'H***-C****) but United has never used it. Instead, they run the name all together. My passport and my global entry have my name correctly. This never presented a problem with security, and I always got TSAprecheck. Until my last flight, that is. Because my name does not match my security documents exactly, I could not get precheck. United says that they are not able to use an apostrophe or a hyphen in their system. Other airlines that I am a member of have no issues with it. What do I do? How do most of the Irish people with names similar to mine handle this? How do people who chose to hyphenate their names fix this?
