So I'm an avianca elite member and burnt some miles for a trip BOG to IST in Biz for a vacation after 4 years of no non work travel for our 14th anniversary.

On checkout was offered miles care and chose the insurance coverage including healthcare for $200 or so.

Guess what... Wife had to be hospitalized on the day of travel... Contacted miles care and they said they spoke to the airline and made the ticket open ended.

Now that we're out of the hospital I'm asking them to rebook the ticket... They're telling me there's no availability... Now we both know there's no miles based availability last minute in biz class but there are seats available for sale. They won't book us and keep claiming there's no availability.

So for a laugh I asked hey is there any availability in October November or December? They said no...

Asked can they do a different routing... They said no...

Asked if they can refund the miles for the return leg of the ticket... They said no...

​​​​​​Asked if they're going to refund the hospital bill... They said they need to review the case first and can take up to a week.

In short from my limited experience here miles care is a scam...
