I changed my return flight on Lufthansa’s website once I landed in Germany. Was easy. Lots of options. $600. 1-hour layover in Frankfurt (there are no direct flights from DRS). I could have rebooked a flight through Munich for $250, but I chose to pay a “premium” to avoid a 7-hour layover in Munich. Also, in case something goes wrong, Frankfurt has a lot more flights than does Munich.

I tried to make the change in the airport once we landed in Germany, but it was mayhem there. Tens of people in line due to cancelled flights, etc. We spoke with people who had already slept for two nights in the airport. So, we didn’t wait on those lines. We were lucky our outbound flight had no issues.

My ticket class never came into question when I rebooked on Lufthansa. Only mentioning because that was a topic of conversation on this thread.

Interesting side note: Expedia sent a confirmation a couple of days before my outbound flight where It seemed my itinerary had been split off from those of my family members. I never asked them to do that, but it may have helped me to rebook that my flights were no longer tied to theirs.
