You should not use a generalized concept to interpret the rules on FN Cert Stay. I hope nobody takes your advice seriously and act that way. They might be in a nasty surprise when the hotel has not gotten BonVoy compensation because the FN is deemed EXPIRED on the check out date! Either the hotel pulls points to cover it or charges the card on file. Either way, the person who takes your advice would suffer. Of course they have themselves to blame because they do not get this from the Official source, that is Lurker's reply below.
Well, I've actually done it. I am not convinced the lurkers answer is correct. Plus others have posted that they have as well. I am NOT using a generalized concept. I am using experience.
BTW Here it is on the Marriott website:
- A Free Night Award must be redeemed for the Stay by its expiration date.
- If your Free Night Award expires on December 31, 2022, your Check-In date can be December 31, 2022 and Check-Out date is January 1, 2023
