Net: it seems like on a mixed itinerary with a thru fare, you end up close to what you would have gotten if it was all AA marketed. Of course YMMV. This is not an exact science.
Yes that is where the issue comes in. So theoretically: JFK-MAD-ATH is $1000 fare booked in S class. JFK-MAD on AA is 3590 miles and MAD-ATH on IB is 1481 miles for a total of 5071 miles
Is this what they do?.....
JFK-MAD represents 70.79% of the distance. Take $1000 and multiply it by 70.79% yielding $707.90 in fare. $707.90 x 9 (plat pro earning level) = 6,371 LPs for the AA leg
MAD-ATH on IB is calculated based on fare class and miles flown. 1481 miles (MAD->ATH) x 0.50 (S class fare basis) x 1.8 (plat pro earning level) = 1,333 LPs for the IB leg
Total = 7,704 LPs
Is this correct?
