I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you, until my last stay there this week. I had requested a quiet room away from the stairwell/bar and they gave me the room right off the elevator on the 5th floor, right under the rooftop restaurant. Room change not possible until the next day. Had several maintenance issues (non-working shower head, loose wires hanging from behind a painting, broken door stopper), forgotten turn-down service, really underwhelming food in the downstairs restaurant (also at breakfast), and a bill inflated by a wrong 1500 CHF dinner charge (their error).

Worst of all, I gave constructive feedback in writing during my stay and would have expected a short follow-up in person. They simply couldn't have cared less.

The Mandarin Oriental can't open soon enough!
