National might even decide to put you on their DNR (do not rent) list.

Bad idea. Don't do it.

Have you checked to see if you can get a low rate with some other codes you can legitimately use? If you are a college/university grad, have you checked to see whether you are entitled as an alumnus to use your alma mater's leisure code?
They aren't going to "investigate" anything of the sort. Why would they care? They are going to file a claim with the insurance carrier.

I damaged a National rental car while on a business trip a couple of years ago - ripped the front bumper cover almost completely off of a Mustang. Totally my fault. Our corporate code includes LDW/CDW. Returned it to JFK and they had me fill out a short form describing what happened. About a month later I was overnighted a packet of forms that I had to fill out with basically the same information. Around the same time, I received an email from my employers' travel administrator asking for the same details. That made it appear to me that either National or their LDW/CDW insurance carrier notified my employer of the claim.

My company just has the one code, and we are allowed to use it for personal rentals, but if we had specific codes for personal rentals I would be pretty nervous about using the business code to save money on my leisure rental because of this.
