I've had similar on the AS app where even pulling down to refresh hasn't helped. A workaround has been to go in to seat selection, which has been enough to make the app realise something has changed and update itself. Perhaps a similar trick may work with the AA app?
Agreed that if it is an AS flight, seat selection will force a refresh of the itinerary so that you can see the latest schedule. However, if it is a booking with all flights on partner airlines, you aren't able to select seat on AS app thus this trick does not work. In that case, I just delete the app and reinstall it.
