Here's a datapoint. I had to book on Delta after a delay made me miss my flight on another airline. I used my ecredits as a partial payment and automatically got a $100 credit. (The other $100 was used to pay baggage fees.)
I'll keep this in mind since my wife has ecredits that we can use when we book another Delta flight.
