Initially, I was thinking about heading into Paris to do some shopping before heading back to the US (hence the 12-hour transit time), but given that airport lines have been ridiculous and the possibility of it being scorching hot, I might just stay put and take an earlier flight to JFK (which *WILL* feature P). If I make that change, will I still have access to LP during my transit in CDG?
Thanks in advance for all your help! I'm still thinking hard about whether it's worth paying about a $1000 USD to upgrade on a 7-hour red-eye flight and for lounge service. (I realize this is a personal decision, but I'm also a stickler for money sometimes!)
I'm not sure how the lounge access is impacted if you arrive in P and leave the airport then come back. However, on a normal transit, if you upgrade DXB-CDG, then you will have P ground service in CDG regardless of whether your onward flight has P or not.
Personally I would do the upgrade, because you will be able to sleep a lot better to CDG and then enjoy a meaningful amount of time in the CDG lounge before your next flight. If it was just a one-way DXB-CDG, then it's a lot less compelling for me, personally.
