I' ve had two TATL upgrades and three N.A. upgrades when flights were either overbooked in Y or the gate agent was trying to organize seats for families, simply by offering the gate agent my boarding pass and telling them I have no problems if they needed seat. It's been a while though.

Curious about bumps/upgrades as well. Was booked for DTW-LAX and was overbooked. GA said upgrades to First are no longer allowed since rev management tends to revoke such offers, and that they haven't done that since the Northwest days. Doesn't sound right as my previous bumps included ups to First.
