I get D1 because I am a DVT/PE patient and would layover a day before taking economy on the long haul.
If you miss your AMS-MSP flight you can get rebooked in D1 or KLM business class. Just insist that the agent rebooks you on the next available itinerary in J. You will only fly in Y if you accept a routing in Y to get home sooner. If you're traveling alone it will be a lot easier to find 1 seat in J than for a larger group. And if you have a 1 day cushion to get home I'd feel very comfortable about that. Remember also you can often get EU 261 comp if you are significantly delayed.
Finally, if you arrive in MSP on time and there's an earlier MSP-OKC, you can either SDC or SDS to the earlier flight (which is permitted once all international segments are complete). All you need to SDC is 1 open F seat.
