JFK-CLE today was oversold by 2. They offered $500, then $600, then $700 before getting volunteers. It was tempting for a flight 5 hours later. Also, I didn't know you could get an AmEx gift card with the amount. Cold hard cash instead of future flight credit (I've gotten a lot on United, so I give really good birthday/anniversary/graduation gifts).
