Back in the day, it was AA policy to skip meal orders for upgraded non-revs, and then come back and ask them when they'd taken all revenue meal orders. This policy was changed a few years back to one where they take the non-rev's choice, but then just give them whatever they've got left if revenue customers want more of whatever choice there is. This was done with the goal of not calling attention to the fact that employees get travel privileges which sometimes allow them to ride in premium cabins. Personally, I think it's far more attention-getting to order a meal, and then have the F/A place the total opposite in front of you without saying anything. But hey, that's just me.

In any event, they will always take FAM meal orders just like revenue, just to avoid pointing them out as different. I know that FAM's do a good enough job of that on their own, but you know what I mean.
