The question presupposes that the FA knows which meal is more desireable not just to you, but to all passengers.

In any event, the person who should not be asked first is the Air Marshall. I would have made an issue about it if the FA was specifically directing the question to you and the Air Marshall or any other type of passenger butted-in.
