Arrived at gate T-90 not thinking about oversell after reviewing Seat Map. At T-60ish, GA#1 announces oversell with $500. Having leisure trips planned for later in '22, I approach the desk, in the single check-in line. T-30, GA#1 announces $750...immediately join the secondary line created with the announcement, #3 in line. Observe whispered conversations between volunteers #1 and #2 - eventually get to GA#2, who confirms the offer, but explains nothing else than night and recaps offer: $750 in gift cards, meal/taxi voucher ($15 each), confirmed following morning at 8AM...SOLD! Once DL1717 dispatched, the VDB process begins (took 6), apparently new/revised process as GA#2 had issues generating the vouchers and confirming pax. Eventually, GA#3 arrives to assist as by then, GA#1 and #2 had to greet next arrival. Between GA#2 and #3, all volunteers are processed. Hotel was the Aloft Jacksonville, out next morning with no issue.

What has been the best strategy for the gift cards if not to use for specific retailers...just reedem for full amount in Visa/MC/delta.com?
