I think that would depend on the precise personal circumstances, which I'm sure you wouldn't want to put online. But in general terms if you cannot get home, when it would have been perfectly feasible if the flight was on time or just a bit late, then Right to Care does allow a hotel to be used. The relevant test here is reasonableness. Plus proportionality. Which also applies to BA too, so whereas a £50 taxi limit for most people would be reasonable, for some it would not be sensible - such as a vulnerable person who would struggle with a late night train service. There is also a personal wellbeing and perhaps personal safety issue involved, which may count for more than whatever BA will or won't do. Now if EC261 delay compensation applied then that would prevent you being out of pocket anyway, so listen very carefully to the flight deck's pre-flight briefing for the cause of the delay. I suspect it's mainly AMS congestion, which is well advertised, and that component would not be in scope for EC261.
