Hello - first time traveling to India for a conference in Aug September 2022, have not flown to this side of the world! Pretty excited and naive to South Asian travel.

Currently UA 82 EWR --> DEL landing 09:30p and "connecting" to DEL --> JDH at 2pm the next day through Air India. It was all booked on one ticket, but I am able to get my checked luggage at DEL after customs and go to a hotel, correct? Or will checked bags go straight through to destination? And what about the reverse itinerary where another long layover at DEL occurs, JDH --> DEL --> EWR? Thanks very much.
