Exactly. For no other reason than the FAA and others would never approve such a seat, citing safety reasons. Remember, the entire aircraft has to be evacuated in 90 seconds with half the exits inop.
I also don't see how carry-ons fit into such a schema. You're essentially taking all the overhead space by putting heads overhead.
Concur on both points. Egress looks like it'd be a major issue especially for those bottom level seats. And no carryon room? This is targeted at LCCs and ULCCs and carryon baggage is one of the ways some of these airlines make big bucks. And where would "personal items" be stored?
Other issue is that looks like a lot of weight/structure to support the upper level seats (which admittedly could be traded off somewhat by removing OH bins).
