To be fair based on their workload and the amount of effort it would take to serve potentially different hot meals to many different passengers at slightly different times during a flight (particularly if close to descent when there are other clearing/securing jobs to do) I don't blame them at all for wanting to get you a final hot meal at 90mins before landing.
That being said, if I had been asked if I wanted to maximise sleep and agreed, and then was woken up 2hrs prior to be asked if I wanted breakfast, I'd be a little irked too, particularly on a 6hr redeye flight.
Not sure i would class the light continental that was served at -2 hours a hot meal.
several things about my recent 4 sector return made me see the service is not as dind on demand as they make out.
i can understand the reasons for it. In reality the service is much closer to the serve everyone shortly after take off that everyone else offers.
on my first flight vie to doh the meals were already in the oven being reheated before they recommended to us all that we eat around 1 hour after take off.
My request to be served 30 minutes after that was not being entertained
