If knowing the terminal in advance is important to you, UA may not be the right choice of airline. Actually, there’s a lot about UA that you’re not likely to like. For example, I suspect you haven’t yet encountered a UA schedule change or a flight where the seat assignments get jumbled several times prior to departure.
That said, are you planning to meet landside or airside? EWR’s terminals aren’t connected airside, but they are connected landside via a train. So you could decide to meet at, e,g., the AirTrain station for Terminal C.
